I've had excellent and thorough care from the GPs I've seen at Wimpole Road Surgery.
Found this surgery to be very good! The Receptionists are very friendly and welcoming and take time with patients. The doctors and nursing staff listen to the ailments which are troubling you and recommend different options. Have had many health problems and these have been treated well and involved specialist treatments. The one doctor I found condescending and rude was a female elder doctor who has thankfully now left. Wonderful place and the fact you can book appointments and prescriptions online makes life easier.

The doctors and reception staff are extremely good. I have used this surgery for over 13 years and always feel like we matter and that they try their best. You call up on the day to make an appointment and keep redialling until you get through, but you will get an appointment, if not an emergency it may be a telephone appointment but that has helped me in the past. The waiting room now looks a bit tired but 13 years ago it was spotless and looked brand new. I think we are fortunate to have the care we get from our surgery.
I have been using this surgery for the last 20 odd years and although I don't use it a great deal I think that the staff do the best they can considering all the restraints that the government has placed on them in the last few years. I have ALWAYS been able to get appointment on the day I've booked, yes you have to ring at 0830 and keep re dialing but you will eventually get through and get an appointment but this is hardly a hardship like previous reviewers have written. You try getting an appointment at a Drs surgery in London, you will be lucky if you are seen the same month! I have sat in the waiting room and cringed at some of the abuse the receptionists get. I have always been polite and have always had the same back. I now live over 7 miles from this surgery but would I change...never!

While some of my friends and family find it difficult to find a doctor willing to listen to them and to suggest more than taking paracetamol, I found here one of the best GPs I have ever talked to. Dr. Claire Cooper always pays attention, takes one's worries seriously, listens carefully and sent me for future medical investigations every time it was the case. I think she does a brilliant job and I am happy that there are still people like her in the NHS.

They saved my life, so I would give them 10 stars if I could!
Staff is very helpful, kind and professional. It was very easy to find my way and to get the instructions needed. The building is very old and historical which automatically means some renovation may be needed, but nevertheless good service.

I've done several stints of rehab here and whilst the later hospital is more locked down, clinical treatment is good and if you are scared, violent and have to be restrained, this is done with the minimum force, no deliberate brutality. It's cheaper than The Priory, so if you've gone on a trip you can't get yourself down from, ring their number and ask to speak with a crisis team or ask your GP to refer you. It can be very scary due to the nature of patients being emotionally disturbed. My only gripe is there is understaffing and presumably the pay isn't great for the staff so they need longer hours, which doesn't help this most highly stressed situation. Another problem I've encountered is issues surrounding section paperwork. You are entitled to legal representation and advocacy if you are to be held in a rehab facility against your will, this is not always forthcoming. Worst still patients under section have been asked to sign other paperwork, including adoption forms, immigration, criminal confession and other life changing issues when they are legally not in the capability to sign them. Essex Social Services are the most regular breakers of that law and this needs to be exposed. That said, there's a good community spirit among the patients/inmates (if it's got locks it's by definition a prison) , and great chances to learn from each other as well as the excellent staff and community volunteers of all grades. You can learn a lot there, it would be a good place to learn about mental health and Anglia Ruskin University has used the facility in in-work training schemes for nurses and doctors.
