I can't put in 6 stars, which is a shame. New town, new cinema, first weekend my kids visited. Didn't have high hopes. Towards the end of the day, so the little one was getting fractious. We queued for Rogue One buckets and meal deals, couldn't see something the little one would drink (I swear his blood type is Semi-Skimmed) he threw a wobbly, and the lovely man behind the counter, Kyle, came to the rescue. He found some milk, helped calm my son, everyone went into the cinema relieved. It doesn't take much, but it means loads when you're a single dad with cranky, excited kids. Great cinema with lovely, helpful staff. UPDATE: Went to see Avengers: Infinity War and had a great time. Gabriel sorted out the dazzling array of snacks, and really helpful when my friend had lost his hat. Superb customer service!
Always clean, staff are great fun and enthusiastic always. Comfy seats and decent leg room. Great place to see films for the proper cinema experience

Being new to the area, I was delighted to find the Riverside theatre and what beautiful grounds it is set in too. I saw Zero live performance of two powerful erotic people - a very strong beautiful black guy and equally beautiful sensual lovely fair skinned female with red hair. Their bodies were continually entwining together with the most incredible powerful music taking me to a lovely calm, peaceful and lovely place. I could have watched again! The coffee shop afterwards is so relaxed and welcoming too. My second visit to the lovely theatre was to see the National Theatre Live modern filmed version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth - intro was excellent but when the act started, I soon realised I was totally out of my depth - couldn’t understand a word. I even fell asleep and sadly had to leave after part 1. My friend was also Happy to go but we did discuss on our journey home. Let this not put anyone off. I believe in honesty in all areas of my life. I was never taught about Shakespeare. I’m not giving up - another performance, another time I hope I may just begin to understand the incredible man! Looking forward to returning to the Riverside. With love Lynda x
The Lakeside coffee shop provides the nicest cafe area on campus and people know it so finding a seat especially early in the morning is hard work but worth it. The staff are lovely and always accommodating. The Lakeside Theatre itself has a massive selection of plays on including National Theatre Live, touring shows and plays put on by Essex students and the Theatre Arts Society all of which are a joy to watch.

Great theatre, good location close to car parks and restaurants. I would not recommend the restaurant attached to the theatre. The food was not good, the fact that only 2 tables where occupied is indicative of local opinion. I'd definitely visit again, and eat elsewhere.
Great theatre, you get a fantastic view of the stage from everywhere and plenty of legroom for a change. Just watched "The Play That Goes Wrong" there and wasn't disappointed, funniest thing I've seen in a long, long time!

Saw Dean Friedman in concert and it was great. The ambience was good, the acoustics brilliant and an audience full of fans. Hope they get more bookings like Dean
Lovely old theatre. Excellent staff. Some great productions too.
